1994 Annual Awards Banquet

Once again the members of the Louisville Wheelmen were treated to a night of Food, Fun, and Friends as they held their annual banquet at Masterson's. This year's banquet was held on November 19 with over 108 attendees. A special thanks is due to Mark Klein for organizing the banquet, Barry Bennett for all the awards, Dave and Carol Leist for providing the stats and programs, all the other volunteers who helped out with the banquet. Last but not least, a BIG Thank You to all the friends of the Wheelmen who donated door prizes for the banquet, a list of which follows later in the article.

The following is a summary of the annual awards given:

The Yellow Jersey Awards -- For the most miles ridden for the year:
Adrian Freund (5015 miles)
Anong Pustow (3366 miles)

The Master's Jersey Awards -- Most miles for the year by seniors:
Marge Johannemann
Bill Johannemann

Junior Award -- Most Miles By A Junior (under 18)
Nicholas Do (2 years old -- 629 miles)

30,000 Lifetime Miles
Jay Palmer and Dave Runge

25,000 Lifetime Miles
Dave Spitler, Jim Tretter and Don Williams

20,000 Lifetime Miles
Bill Anderson and Mary Margaret Williams

15,000 Lifetime Miles
Mike Blair, Dave Leist and John Rice

10,000 Lifetime Miles
Butch Congrove, Duc Do, John Larson, Glenn Todd, Joe Ward and Ted Wicker

Century Club -- Five or more centuries, a total of 20 riders, with the following making the club for the first time:
Kevin Clay, Anong Pustow, Bill Pustow and David Ryan

Door Prizes for the banquet were donated by the following “Friends of the Wheelmen”: Bardstown Road Bicycle Co., Best Western Inn - Bardstown, Clarksville Schwinn Cyclery, Highland Cycle, Hurst Discount Drugs, Hurst Restaurant, J&B Imports, Jones Restaurant, Ken Combs Running Store, Kosair Safe Kids, Kurtz Restaurant, The Louisville Wheelmen Racing Team, Mark Motel, Old Kentucky Home Tour, Quest Outdoors, Scheller's Fitness, Talbott Tavern, The Old Bardstown Inn.

Club officers were also elected at the banquet. The following is a list of officers elected for 1994: President - Adrian Freund, VP Advocacy - Earl Jones, VP Communications - Joe Kipp, VP Education - Mary Margaret Williams, VP Racing - Dave Spitler, VP Touring - Barry Bennett, Secretary - Kathy Faulkner, Treasurer - Alice Filiatreau.

Once again thanks to all the volunteers, individuals and sponsors who helped make the Annual Awards Banquet a special and memorable event.
