Louisville Bicycle Club Newsletter — November-December 1997

From the President . . .

by Jim Preston

What an outstanding year we have had in the Louisville Bicycle Club! Let’s review the season’s successes:
  • Most recently, we enjoyed the rededication of the Ruff Memorial. Larry Hammers did a tremendous job and we had a great turn out.
  • We also recently completed the biggest and best Old Kentucky Home ride ever! Thanks go to “Brenda and company!”
  • We just got our handsome new club jerseys.
  • A great unification has taken place within our club this year. We have come together from a fragmented group to form a strong and united club.
  • New membership is on the rise.
  • We have been fortunate to enjoy a diversification of rides. For example, we have fat tire and mountain bike rides appearing on our ride schedule now.
  • The family rides have been a great success and added enjoyment.

We have benefited tremendously from our hardworking volunteers, some of whom don’t necessarily ride. These are our faithful supporters, partners and spouses. Most importantly, we have had a great deal of fun throughout the season!

This is my last letter as president of the Louisville Bicycle Club. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for making this club such a good one. It has been both an honor and a privilege in serving you over the past year. We can all be proud of our club and its accomplishments over the last season. My appreciation goes to all those who devoted countless hours on committees, as ride captains, and all the other many helpers involved in this year’s success. You have made it a real pleasure being a part of the Louisville Bicycle Club. Thank you. As always — Have fun!
