Old Kentucky Home Tour

by Jane Tyler & Kathy Schmitt

Mark your calendars! The 2001 Old Kentucky Home Tour is scheduled for Sept. 8-9! If you thought the 2000 OKHT was a blast (and the LAB thought it was good enough to win “Best Century” and “Best Jersey” for 2000!), just wait ‘til you see what we’ve got for you this year!

The Tour will start and end at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park with three routes to Bardstown on Saturday and a 25-mile loop option returning to Sawyer; all riders return on the same route on Sunday. There will be very cool free T-shirts, music and refreshments at all sags, a fabulous lunch on Saturday, entertainment, carriage rides and food in Bardstown Saturday afternoon and evening, Chris Cakes breakfast, the legendary Cookie Stop, and a party at Sawyer Sunday afternoon for all riders.

The OKHT and LBC welcome back Scheller’s Fitness and Cycling and St. Matthews Dental Group, Dr. Gary Griffin, as two of our Supporting Sponsor for this year’s ride. Millenium Sport and Import will again be sponsoring the carriage rides in Bardstown, Nancy’s Bagels and Heine Bros. will provide bagels and coffee for breakfast on Saturday, Creation Gardens is back as a fruit sponsor. Thanks, too, to Distinctive Signs for again providing signage for the Tour and sponsors. This kind of support is what makes this ride outstanding!

But to pull this off, we need volunteers and committees are forming now. Please contact Co-Directors Kathy Schmitt and Jane Tyler to volunteer. Every little bit helps and we need you!
