Annual Club Picnicby Norm Minnick
Sunday, August 12, is our annual club picnic. This year, the picnic will be held in the #1 shelter (the old shelter, near the playgrounds to the left as you pull in the park) at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. There will be three rides in the morning, a 15-mile flattish ride especially for families, a 25- and a 50-miler. We will schedule these so as to bring folks back together about the same times so we can pig out together. (See the ride schedule for ride start times.)
We will need plenty of food! Bring your favorite homemade dish and share. Good suggestions are salads, fruits, veggies, desserts... you know, typical picnic fare! The club will provide and cook hot dogs, burgers and/or bar-b-que and soft drinks, water, lemonade and ice.
Eating will commence around noonish. The park has a volleyball court, horseshoe pits and a swimming pool, (all open to the public), so if you want, get up a game for after the picnic.
The picnic is for any and all members and families! Please feel free to bring a friend to introduce them to the club. If you’ve enjoyed the club “fruit” rides, this is like the mother of fruit rides!
We need a few volunteers to help set up and get ice, etc. Please call Norm Minnick at 452-6699 to lend a hand.
(And call if you want Norm to taste test any of your goodies before the picnic.)
