The Campbellsville 4th of July Parade Century will go down in my memory as one of my all-time favorite rides!
Literally a thousand plus people lined the streets as the police from Campbellsville lead us onto the parade route. As Mike Pitt said; ďIíve never been a float in a parade before.Ē It was some of the most fun Iíve had on a bike!
The century was beautiful, dispite waiting almost an hour and a half for the monsoon type rain and lightning to pass. A sag stop at Makerís Mark was a really nice touch. Free bourbon chocolates and a tour! Then on to Lebanon, Ky., with another sag stop at the Railway Museum!
Of course, whoever laid out the route had to throw in a number of killer hills (3-4 miles worth) at the 92 mile mark. (Kinda reminded me of our OKHT century.)
Please plan to join us next 4th of July for another great day of cycling. Many thanks to Jim Moore and Don Olive of Campbellsville for their work in setting this ride up and for being such gracious hosts!
