Letters to the Club
Hello. Iím a new LBC member and the Scoutmaster of one of the Boy Scout troops that participated in this yearís OKHT. On behalf of our troop, Iíd like to thank all the club members who were so supportive of our Scouts during the weekend. Although we took many training rides to prepare for the ride, the trip posed a real challenge for a couple of our guys. Your patience and words of encouragement along the route were a great boon to them and to us.
This was our troopís sixth year to participate in the OKHT, but I was still struck by the friendly welcome our Scouts received at registration, at the SAG stops, and at every other time during the weekend. They were excited to be a part of such a big event, and I think that excitement will lead many of them to continue in the sport long after theyíve earned their Cycling merit badges.
We owe a special debt of gratitude to Joe Ward for his generosity in leading some of our training rides and helping us get ourselves and our bikes ready for the trip both this year and in the past.
My name is Ray Riffe III, and I was in town last Wednesday and contacted Schellers bike shop and they told me about your morning club ride... I joined in and rode with Betty, Sonny, and Dick. I had a wonderful time riding with them and see some of the local area... Iím looking forward to coming back in town at the end of Oct. to ride the Wed. morning ride again... I just wanted to drop you a note as president of your club to thank you, and your memebrs for a wonderful morning ride.
Ray Riffe III
Thanks or your note, Ray. Iím always glad when visitors and non-members recognize our wonderful ride captains. Weíll look for you next time youíre in town.
