Senior Games

by Marilyn Minnick

The Louisville Metro Regional Senior Games will take place May 17-21 on the U of L campus and at various other venues throughout the city. Anyone 50 years of age and older can participate. Registration is $5.00 for any and all events. Competitive events include golf, bowling, cycling, racewalk, track and field, swimming, shuffleboard, horseshoes, table tennis, basketball, tennis, softball, volleyball, road race, racquetball, badminton, triathlon, and archery.

For those of you most interested in cycling, the cycling races will take place on Saturday, May 21 at 9 am, Shawnee Park. There will be 5K and 10K races, broken down by age groups. Medalists in these games will automatically qualify for the State Senior Games in Lexington in September.

If you are not yet 50 years of age, please volunteer your assistance at the races. This is a very competitive event, as evidenced by the ferocious competition last year displayed by our LBC medalists.

For more information, contact Marilyn Minnick at 502-412-4224 or Clydeen Thompson, Manager, Flaget Community Center, at 502-574-2646.
