Newsletter Advertising Policy Change

by , VP Communications

Attention: All Newsletter Advertisers

In an effort to improve newsletter layout and reduce printing costs, the Louisville Bicycle Club will end the practice of including advertisements in the six issues published annually. This decision was taken by the Board of Directors on January 22, 2006 and will become effective with the May-June 2006 issue. The newsletter will continue to include promotional information for the Major Sponsors* of the Old Kentucky Home Bicycle Tour.

As an alternative, the Board of Directors approved the inclusion of paid advertising in the annual LBC Membership Directory. Advertisements in the membership directory will provide a more stable and lucrative advertising opportunity for those interested in reaching the large pool of potential customers within the 900-member strong (and growing) LBC membership. The revenue generated from these advertisements will allow the LBC to publish a membership directory on an annual basis or as determined by the Board of Directors.

Club members with products or services to promote, as well as non-member product and service providers, may place advertisements in the membership directory. The Board reserves the right to refuse any advertisement it deems inappropriate for any reason.

The following advertising options are available:

1/8-page ads (2" x 2")$30.00 per year
1/4-page ads (4" x 2")$50.00 per year
1/2 page ads (4" x 5")$75.00 per year
Full page ads (8" x 5")$100.00 per year

If you are interested in placing an ad in the next LBC membership directory (which will be included in the May-June 2006 newsletter), please make checks payable to Louisville Bicycle Club and mail to Louisville Bicycle Club, PO Box 35541, Louisville, KY 40232.

The deadline for submitting an ad is April 1.

You may email your ad to Jim Tretter () or send it on CD to Louisville Bicycle Club, PO Box 35541, Louisville, KY 40232.

The advertiser is responsible for the layout/design of his/her own ad. Ads need to be supplied as print-ready files (preferably tiff or jpeg, 300dpi). If you have questions about this process, please contact Sara Ferebee at or 664-2642.

*Major Sponsors are sponsors who provide $3,000 in financial or in-kind support.
