Mt. Washington Spring Bike Ride, Saturday, May 13, 1995

The Mt. Washington Spring Bike Ride is a family fun ride sponsored by the Peoples Bank of Mt. Washington, and produced by the Louisville Wheelmen. The ride is one of the events of the Mt. Washington Historical Days celebration. The tour promotes fun cycling and bicycle safety for riders of all ages.

Mt. Washington is located at the junction of KY 44 and US 31E/US 150 in eastern Bullitt County. It is 22 miles south of Louisville on Bardstown Road (US 31E/US 150) and 11 miles east of I-65 and Shepherdsville on KY 44. Bounded to the north and south by Floyds Fork and Salt River, respectively, Mt. Washington is located on a plateau between the the rivers, offering challenging cycling routes into and out of the river valleys.

The ride will start from Mt. Washington Elementary School, located 1.5 miles west of US 31E/US 150 on KY 44. Riders will sign in between 7:00 and 8:30 am on Saturday, May 13. A mass start at 8:45 am takes the riders east on KY 44 into town to lead off the Historical Days parade.

Three distances will be offered: 10, 25 and 50 miles. All routes start and end at Mt. Washington Elementary School. There will be one SAG stop each for the 10 and 25-mile ride. The 50-milers will have stop at the SAG twice. The SAG stops will be stocked with fresh fruits, cookies, snacks, water and juices. The SAGs will be opened from the ride start to 1:00 pm.

Cost: $6 per participant. The first 400 registered riders will receive a free water bottle upon sign-in on the morning of the ride.
